Police Lock-up Surveillance

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency monitors all lock-ups to determine if children have been jailed and under what conditions. Activities carried out by the surveillance team include assessing the conditions under which children are being held; offering counselling for children; arranging for bail and release to parents or guardians; relocating children in need of care and protection to Places of Safety; and facilitating, where possible, requests for spaces in Places of Safety for children in conflict with the law.
