Overview

There are currently eight government child care facilities which the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) directly manages and supports on behalf of the government of Jamaica, while providing oversight and financial assistance to over 40 private homes. The CPFSA is in essence the guardians of all children in residential child care facilities, and provides all the support that a parent would give to a child. In this regard, the agency provides for the medical, educational, and developmental needs of children living in residential child care facilities. Effective placement management, care planning, and case management are features of the Agency’s holistic approach to catering to the individual needs of children in the care of the State.
